Damian Yearnshire

Damian co-founded Portland Partnership to create the kind of recruitment consultancy he would want to work with honest, human, and genuinely focused on helping people make the right move, not just any move.

Originally from the North East and a Durham graduate, Damian has worked across agency and in-house roles, giving him a 360-degree view of recruitment. He’s advised law and accountancy firms from the inside, led on hiring strategy, and built successful desks back in the agency world. His focus today is on legal and accountancy practice, where he works with everyone from newly qualified candidates to senior hires.

He’s especially passionate about helping professionals at the early stages of their career, a key time when the right move can shape not just a CV, but someone’s growth, confidence, and direction. Damian believes recruitment done well is about more than filling roles; it’s about stories, timing, and helping people do better work in better places.

Outside of work, Damian lifts heavy things (barbells, rocks and logs generally) and doesn’t shy away from a bit of competition: particularly with Drew. He’s honest, a little bit cocky (in a good way), and never takes things too seriously. Recruitment can be stressful, he figures it doesn’t need to be boring, too.
